Wiang Kum Kam (Thai: เวียงกุมกาม) is an historic settlement and archaeological site along the Ping River, which was built by King Mangrai the Great as his capital before he moved it to Chiang Mai. It was flooded and abandoned more than 700 years ago; that move became more understandable in 2005, when the ancient city was flooded three separate times as the river overflowed its banks in that area of Chiang Mai.

It is located on Moo 5 , Nai Mueang District, Amphoe Mueang, Lamphun Province. This is an ancient temple which had been constructed since Lanna Period. Some said it The Queen Chamthevi had Lavo craftsmen built it in 1298 B.E. Some said his son, Prince Anantayot and Prince Mahantayot had it built to enshrine his mother’s ashes. Previously, the topmost of the Chedi had been covered with gold leaves. It is a square stupa built in accordance with Buddhagaya style of India; and within it lies the ashes of Queen Chamthevi. Sixty Buddha statues are enshrined on layered arches surrounding the Chedi. The top portion of the chedi has collapsed but there is no evidence telling when. That’s why people call this stupa “Ku-Kut”. Actually, this chedi is formally named “Suwanna Chedi. Morever, Rattana Chedi is built within the temple groud, on the right had side of the minor chapel, it was built by Phraya Sapphasit around the 8th century.
